Gender-blindness on child sexual abuse
With recent articles in the press exposing the terrible events at a Plymouth day nursery and childline figures challenging the assumption that child sexual abuse is more prevelent among women than we would like to think have we finally got to a point were we can say that when it comes to safeguarding children gender is no longer seen as a dominent factor with regard to intent.
With childline figures claiming that over 60% of boys they received calls from identified that the sexual abuse was by their mother is this a wake up call with regard to the mythical assumptions that for too long have gone unchallenged?
